I am here to tell you stop stressing about keeping flowers alive because it just isn’t worth it. Now if you have a green thumb go for it and don’t worry about purchasing faux flowers. I can keep flowers alive inside our home no problem but when it comes to our flower boxes and all of the different planters I have around our house it just isn’t feasible in this season of my life. Anyway I have been using fake flowers in every way possible around the outside of our home and I honestly I love it. Another thing to think about with faux flowers is that you will only have to buy them once and not year after year so to me you are saving money.

I feel like especially for us because we have quite a few flower boxes the only way to really keep them thriving and not die quickly is to install a drip system. Anyway here are some of the flowers I just put in our window boxes and I cannot get over HOW REAL they look again NO ONE has to know that they are fake, and what I loveee so much about the faux flowers is that they always look alive, beautiful, and healthy.

Hi Everyone,

I feel like we have had the same layout out here for a few years now but I did add a few new touches this year:) The key to making our outside space look and feel so warm and welcoming is to bring the inside outside. What I mean by this is incorporating some stylish pillows onto the outdoor furniture you have as well as adding in a throw blanket to really add an inviting feeling to where you are seated outdoors. Here are some photos of what our deck and patio currently look like:

Here is an inspirational design board for you to reference of what we have on our deck right now along with some links for you to reference.

Gray Sectional|Woven Indoor/Outdoor Rug|Faux Stone Table|Circular Table|Rectangular Table|Bistro Chair|Watertable|Black & White Pillow|White Pillows|Driftwood|Black Cordless Lamps|String Lights

I love adding in throw pillows and a fun blanket that guests and family members can use when we are using this space. I also like to have a live plant out here each year as well and this is a snake plant that has been thriving for four + years at this point. This plant is very low maintence and adds a nice touch of character as well. As far as how to go about furnishing your outdoor space some of my go to places are HomeGoods, Target, HomeSense, and Walmart. If you do not have a large budget to get all of these things I recommend as always to check out Facebook marketplace and other thrift stores local to your area as a lot of people tend to upgrade their furniture and are looking to get rid of exisiting pieces in the spring and early summer months.

Here are some pictures of our deck and patio area from over the years. It is so fun to look back and see the different ways in which we have used the space. My hope is that this inspires you to see how many possibilities you have can have in your home or space. You can start small and then build as you grow with the space overtime.

With all of the rain we have been having in New England I have been soaking up as much sunshine as I can especially because this time of year always goes by SO quickly. I wanted to show you some of the phases that our deck has gone through since we moved in five years ago. As life changes around you so does your living space. Your style may change, you may find a piece of furniture fits better by moving it to a different area, or new additions like pets or babies come into your life.

Rory started moving early on and I quickly realized “okay Jordan you are going to have pivot the way you are decorating and styling your spaces inside and outside in order for this to be more practical for all of us”. With that in mind this year and last summer I figured out how to make it fun for Rory while still making it a space and place I want to retreat to. I went ahead and added a few of my favorite outdoor toys for babies and toddlers along with my favorite outdoor essentials for us adults to enjoy as well. I think the main thing to keep in mind is that it is still your home and space but you are just making it one in which works for everyone in your home. I know how hard it can be with kids especially when it comes to all of the “things” that seem to accumulate BUT even though that is bound to happen you can still find a way to make your home one that suits you and your families style.

I added a few pictures below for you to reference how our deck has looked over the years. All of our furniture including the rug is from Target. Over the years this has evolved as our lives have changed and we have figured out what layout works best:)

Here is what our outdoor deck looks like today for reference:

To help inspire you I went ahead and rounded up some of my favorite outdoor essentials:

Pouf| Kid’s Water Table| Faux plant| Driftwood| Construction Trucks|Circular Table| Beach Toys| Stacking Toys

Fall is here in in New England and it truly is such a beautiful time of year. Cool weather, leaves falling and changing color, and the smell is really such a cool thing to experience. I sometimes forget how many people come here across the country to see the magic that happens around us. Each year I look forward to decorating our front door entryway. I have always felt like your home is a reflection of who you are and what better way to welcome in someone than having touches of fall around you upon entering 🙂 Their are so many different ways you can decorate for this season and here is how I have done it year after year. I stick with a few of my tried and true staples and they never steer me wrong.

I started doing something a few years back that I HIGHLY recommend! I mix faux pumpkins in with real ones. 95% of the pumpkins I use on the front step are faux and then I buy only 2 or three real ones. I usually like to buy the specialty pumpkins. If you aren’t familiar with what those looks like here is an example below. They remind me of fairytale pumpkins and what I love about them is that they look so different than the typical orange pumpkins you tend to see. These are so unique looking but they add up and can be really expensive because they are sold by weight per pound and these are quite dense. The picture below is what they look like:

My four go to favorites for the fall entryway are:

  • Hay Bale
  • Fall wreath
  • Cornstalks (I get two for each side of the door)
  • Mixing in faux/real pumpkins
  • Miniature white pumpkins for above the door

Like anything you decorate have fun with it. Their is no right or wrong with what you use and no matter how simple or elaborate you make it look it will remind everyone of the season we are in.

Here is our front entryway featuring Sofia and Rory!

Some of my favorite fall decorating go to items that I pulled for you below include:

Outdoor Lanterns|Faux Pumpkins|Planters|Galvanized Lanterns|Fall Wreath|Faux Pumpkin Assortment|Layering Mat|Wooden Basket|

Hi! Tis’ the season to enjoy the outdoors as MUCH as the indoors. Especially here in New England summer days are our most prized possession because we don’t get too many. I have done a few posts before on our deck furniture and layout but I figured I would create an updated version for you to reference along with the different pieces of furniture and accessories I have added since my last post. I wanted to share some of my favorite perennials that I LOVE to have around this time of year and what our front entryway currently looks like. NOTHING better than switching all of the florals in the front of you home out with the season you are in.

Our deck:

Since Rory has been born we have switched the layout of our deck slightly. This was the layout we had last year. We created a privacy fence for our deck because it overlooks our neighbors deck (our houses are built up pretty high) and wanted to be able to entertain without feeling like we are all watching each other. Here is my blog post on that if you want to reference on how Andy built it and the materials he used. https://www.athomewithjordan.com/how-to-make-your-patio-an-outdoor-oasis-part-1/

I moved the sectional from the opposite side of the deck that it was on to the side closest to our house because I was worried about him climbing and falling, I have also updated the rug which was a Target.com steal. I checked and it looks like they actually have it on sale right now! We got the 8×10 size and it is made out of indoor/outdoor material which is so easy to wash and clean stains off of. https://www.target.com/p/nuloom-julieta-diamonded-helix-indoor-outdoor-outdoor—gray-8–x-10-/-/A-80115954

Below are some photos of what our deck looks like now:

Some of the furniture I purchased two years ago is not available any longer so I provided some inspiration for you to look at with some of the items I have shown below and linked. Many of the pillows we have on outside I got from Target and each year they have a wonderful selection.

Lanterns| String Lights| Rattan Chairs| Firepit| Sectional| Umbrella| Side Table| Outdoor patio table

Seasonal curb appeal is also something that really allows your home to stand out from others. These simple touches can be any of the below:

  • Window boxes with floral arrangements
  • Wreath for front door
  • Entryway Mat
  • Faux plants or real plants in planters

Some of my favorite perennials to use around our yard are:

  • Succulents
  • Peony
  • Catmint
  • Daisy
  • Seagrass
  • Zinnia
  • Cosmos
  • Hydrangeas
  • Lavender
