With all of the rain we have been having in New England I have been soaking up as much sunshine as I can especially because this time of year always goes by SO quickly. I wanted to show you some of the phases that our deck has gone through since we moved in five years ago. As life changes around you so does your living space. Your style may change, you may find a piece of furniture fits better by moving it to a different area, or new additions like pets or babies come into your life.
Rory started moving early on and I quickly realized “okay Jordan you are going to have pivot the way you are decorating and styling your spaces inside and outside in order for this to be more practical for all of us”. With that in mind this year and last summer I figured out how to make it fun for Rory while still making it a space and place I want to retreat to. I went ahead and added a few of my favorite outdoor toys for babies and toddlers along with my favorite outdoor essentials for us adults to enjoy as well. I think the main thing to keep in mind is that it is still your home and space but you are just making it one in which works for everyone in your home. I know how hard it can be with kids especially when it comes to all of the “things” that seem to accumulate BUT even though that is bound to happen you can still find a way to make your home one that suits you and your families style.
I added a few pictures below for you to reference how our deck has looked over the years. All of our furniture including the rug is from Target. Over the years this has evolved as our lives have changed and we have figured out what layout works best:)
Here is what our outdoor deck looks like today for reference:
To help inspire you I went ahead and rounded up some of my favorite outdoor essentials:
