Hi! Tis’ the season to enjoy the outdoors as MUCH as the indoors. Especially here in New England summer days are our most prized possession because we don’t get too many. I have done a few posts before on our deck furniture and layout but I figured I would create an updated version for you to reference along with the different pieces of furniture and accessories I have added since my last post. I wanted to share some of my favorite perennials that I LOVE to have around this time of year and what our front entryway currently looks like. NOTHING better than switching all of the florals in the front of you home out with the season you are in.
Our deck:
Since Rory has been born we have switched the layout of our deck slightly. This was the layout we had last year. We created a privacy fence for our deck because it overlooks our neighbors deck (our houses are built up pretty high) and wanted to be able to entertain without feeling like we are all watching each other. Here is my blog post on that if you want to reference on how Andy built it and the materials he used. https://www.athomewithjordan.com/how-to-make-your-patio-an-outdoor-oasis-part-1/
I moved the sectional from the opposite side of the deck that it was on to the side closest to our house because I was worried about him climbing and falling, I have also updated the rug which was a Target.com steal. I checked and it looks like they actually have it on sale right now! We got the 8×10 size and it is made out of indoor/outdoor material which is so easy to wash and clean stains off of. https://www.target.com/p/nuloom-julieta-diamonded-helix-indoor-outdoor-outdoor—gray-8–x-10-/-/A-80115954
Below are some photos of what our deck looks like now:
Some of the furniture I purchased two years ago is not available any longer so I provided some inspiration for you to look at with some of the items I have shown below and linked. Many of the pillows we have on outside I got from Target and each year they have a wonderful selection.

Seasonal curb appeal is also something that really allows your home to stand out from others. These simple touches can be any of the below:
- Window boxes with floral arrangements
- Wreath for front door
- Entryway Mat
- Faux plants or real plants in planters
Some of my favorite perennials to use around our yard are:
- Succulents
- Peony
- Catmint
- Daisy
- Seagrass
- Zinnia
- Cosmos
- Hydrangeas
- Lavender
